Milestone checkmark!

We've hit a lot of milestones the past few weeks. It's like all of a sudden Tryn is up and running! not really, that would freak me out a little bit.

We were able to spend some time with Matt's Grandma, Grandma Llewellyn. She flew in from Jersey with her friend Dot, and stayed for about a week (actually, she's still here in Utah, just not anywhere near us). we headed down south and stayed in Bryce Canyon for a few days. It was really fun!
The drive down was a bit rough. 4 hours of driving, and about 1 hour of inconsolable screaming. And only a tiny bit came from me. The drive home was TONS better. she pretty mush slept the whole time. Katryn has a thing for the outdoors, it soothes her. She was so happy the entire time we were there because we spent so much time outdoors!

When we got home, we were playing with her, watching her scootch for her toys, and she rolled herself right over! From her tummy to her back! We cheered, and she just looked at us like "that was awesome. I totally rock!" so then I decided it was time for cereal. I've been kind of putting it off for a while now. . .I just don't like the thought of feeding her cereal too early. But I also don't like the idea that I've been nursing her so often during the day! She's about 5 and 1/2 months now. We had the chair, and the cereal, so we just went for it!

I couldn't believe how well she took it. She didn't want to stop!! Everytime she saw the spoon coming towards her, she'd start kicking her legs like crazy! She was actually pretty clean too. only grabbed the spoon a few times, and for the most part, the cereal stayed in her mouth. I was so proud of her! It's hard to see how fast she's growing, when at the same time, it seems like time is hardly moving. We're going to continue on cereal until at least the 6month mark, and then we'll start with the veggies. I actually mixed up some apple juice for her today in a sippy cup (we're trying to avoid bottles, at least as much as possible) and took to church with us. I had made a whole pitcher for me, and then mixed about 2 ounces with 2 ounces of water. . .plus a little bit. When she first tasted it, her fast was priceless! I wish we hadn't been in sacrament meeting, because I would have loved to get a video of that!! She made a 'yucky' face and spat out the cup, only to grab it with her hands and shove it back it. Then she started all over again. It was like she thought it would change and be sweeter.

Anyway, it's been a good week. Still waiting for her to roll over around, but she's got this scooting thing down pretty good! I was way impressed. Now if she can just keep her head up while she does it.

All night long!

It's been a month since I've posted! good grief what is wrong with me? Oh yeah, I have my 'Tryn who likes all my attention. And a house I can never get under control. And I can't forget laundry! that's never-ending.

Anyway, Katryn is 5 months tomorrow! I can't believe it! She's getting big. i remember in about february, we were at my sister's house and she was nursing her boy who was about 6-7months old (maybe 8? I can't remember) and he was just hanging off her lap. I just couldn't imagine it, because Katryn was so small, and I could fit all of her in my arm. not anymore! her legs hang off now.

She hasn't really giggled anymore, she just laugh, but it's more like my laugh, where it's mostly silent.

Last night though, katryn slept through the whole night!!! She fell asleep for good about 9pm, and didn't wake up until 7am. I couldn't believe it! I woke up at 5:30am, and I'll admit it, I panicked a little bit. She has been getting up only once a night for about a week now, so I guess it was only a matter of time.

Well, I thought maybe the moniter was broken, or (heaven forbid) she was dead. so I went into her room, and peeked into her crib. She was content as can be, then made a little noise that made me jump for some reason.

So I went back to bed. Only slightly swollen and engorged. an hour and 1/2 later. . .I was VERY swollen and engorged. Mighty painful until she ate. (even then, she only ate on one side, so I had to pump)

katryn still doesn't care for tummy time. She can handle it for about 5 minutes, before she pitches a fit and I pick her up. Even then, she cries for a while after. It's about then that I just put her down for a nap. She's not even close to rolling over. Well, when she's on her back, she can kick almost over to her side. She's a kicker, doesn't quite get her shoulders into it though. The way I figure it, she's not going to just lay there forever! She'll roll when she feels like it. Or maybe I'll be stuck with a college kid, who can't roll over!

She's getting close to sitting up on her own. We put her in her bumbo a lot, so we can get things done, like eating, or using the bathroom. I think that's really helped her. She can sit by her self when she's sitting on our laps.

She's also very social lately, as long as mom or dad is holding her. otherwise, she tends to have a bit of a melt down. She's got the whole stranger thing figured out. Although, Grandma's not a stranger. . . .We'll see how she does when we leave her with my sister today while we go to the temple! She'll probably scream. or get beat up by her boy (who turns one tomorrow!)
